Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our eavestrough, soffit, fascia, and leaf guard services.

General Questions

We are a local Alberta crew that works directly with homeowners — no middlemen, no subcontractors. That means better pricing, direct communication with the people actually doing the work, and installations done right the first time. We stand behind every job with a workmanship warranty.

We specialize in the full lifecycle of your home's water diversion system. This includes the professional installation, repair, and cleaning of eavestroughs (gutters), soffit, fascia, downspouts, and leaf guard systems.

Most residential projects, including a full eavestrough and fascia replacement, can be completed in a single day. Larger or more complex homes may take two days.

While installations are best done in milder temperatures, we can perform emergency repairs and cleanings year-round, weather permitting. If it's unsafe to climb a ladder due to high winds or extreme ice, we will reschedule for the next available safe window.

We service Calgary and the surrounding areas including Airdrie, Cochrane, Okotoks, Chestermere, and other communities within a reasonable driving radius. If you're not sure whether we cover your area, give us a call and we'll let you know.

Yes, we offer free, no-obligation estimates. We'll come to your property, assess the work needed, and provide a transparent quote with no hidden fees. You can book one through our contact page or by giving us a call.

We use heavy-gauge aluminum for our eavestroughs and fascia capping, which is rust-proof, durable, and designed for Alberta's extreme temperature swings. Our soffit panels are vented aluminum to ensure proper attic ventilation. All materials are chosen specifically to withstand Calgary's climate.

Absolutely. Every installation comes with a workmanship warranty. If something we installed fails due to our work, we'll come back and fix it at no charge. We'll go over the full warranty details during your estimate.

We ask that vehicles be moved away from the house and any patio furniture, planters, or items near the roofline be cleared so our crew has safe ladder access. We handle everything else and always clean up after the job is complete.

Eavestroughs & Downspouts FAQs

Look for "red flags" like sagging sections, pulling away from the roofline, visible rust, or water pooling near your foundation. If you see peeling paint on your siding or water marks on your ceiling, it's time for an inspection.

Standard 5-inch gutters are suitable for most residential homes. However, for larger homes, steep-pitch roofs, or areas with heavy rainfall and snowmelt, 6-inch gutters offer 40% more water capacity to prevent overflows.

Corners (miters) are the most common leak points. This is usually due to sealant failure over time. We can often reseal these joints without replacing the entire run, though we recommend a full inspection to ensure the slope is still correct.

We generally recommend twice a year: once in late spring (after the snow melts and trees bud) and once in late fall (after the leaves have dropped but before the first major freeze). If you have heavy tree coverage, you may need a third cleaning. Tired of climbing ladders? A leaf guard system can drastically reduce the need for manual cleanings.

Absolutely. If water isn't directed away from the house via downspouts, it pools at the base of your home. In our climate, the freeze-thaw cycle can turn that moisture into ice, which expands and causes cracks in your foundation. Keeping gutters clear is essential — or consider a leaf guard to prevent clogs in the first place.

Yes. We use a continuous roll-forming machine to create seamless eavestroughs custom-cut to the exact length of each run on your home. Seamless gutters have fewer joints, which means fewer potential leak points and a cleaner finished look.

We carry a wide range of baked-enamel colours to match your home's exterior. During your estimate, we'll help you choose a colour that blends with your roof, siding, and trim for a clean, cohesive look.

Downspouts should direct water at least 4 to 6 feet away from your foundation. We install downspout extensions on every job to ensure proper drainage. If your yard slopes back toward the house, we can recommend additional solutions to keep water moving in the right direction.

Soffit & Fascia FAQs

The fascia is the forward-facing board where your gutters are mounted, while the soffit is the material underneath the roof overhang. Together, they protect your rafters from rot, keep pests out of your attic, and provide essential ventilation to regulate your home's temperature.

Usually, yes. However, if the wood fascia board behind the gutter is rotted or soft, it won't hold the new gutter spikes or brackets securely. We inspect your fascia during every quote to ensure your new system has a solid foundation.

Common signs include peeling or flaking paint, visible rot or water damage on the fascia boards, holes or cracks in the soffit panels, and evidence of pests like birds or squirrels nesting in the eaves. If your fascia feels spongy when pressed, the wood behind the capping has likely rotted and needs replacement.

Vented soffit has small perforations that allow air to flow into your attic, which is critical for preventing moisture buildup and ice dams in the winter. Non-vented soffit is used in areas where ventilation isn't needed, like porch ceilings. We assess your home's ventilation needs and use the right combination for each area.

Aluminum fascia capping creates a weatherproof barrier over the wood substrate, protecting it from rain, snow, and UV damage. However, if the existing wood is already rotted, we need to replace the wood board first before capping it — otherwise you're just covering up a problem that will continue to worsen.

Yes. Gaps, holes, or deteriorated soffit panels are one of the most common entry points for birds, squirrels, mice, and wasps. Once they're in your attic, they can cause further damage to insulation and wiring. Replacing damaged soffit seals off these entry points and protects your home.

Leaf Guard FAQs

In Alberta, leaf guards are highly effective — not just for leaves, but for preventing pine needles and spring "helicopter" seeds from clogging your system. It significantly reduces the need for annual cleanings and prevents ice damming caused by trapped debris.

In most cases, yes. Leaf guard systems are designed to fit over standard 5-inch and 6-inch eavestroughs. During your estimate, we'll check the condition and style of your existing gutters to confirm compatibility. If your eavestroughs need replacing, we can install both at the same time.

They dramatically reduce the frequency, but no system is 100% maintenance-free. Fine debris like roof grit or pollen can accumulate on the surface over time. We recommend a quick visual check once a year and a light rinse with a garden hose if needed — far less work than scooping out packed debris by hand.

The guards we install use a micro-mesh or perforated design that allows high volumes of water to flow through while keeping debris out. They're specifically tested for the kind of heavy spring runoff and sudden downpours we get in Alberta, so water enters the gutter without overshooting.

Leaf guards help reduce ice damming by keeping debris out of your gutters, which allows water to flow freely rather than pooling and freezing. They won't eliminate ice dams caused by poor attic insulation or ventilation, but they remove one of the biggest contributing factors — clogged gutters full of wet leaves and debris.

The systems we install sit flush with the top of your eavestrough and are colour-matched to blend in. From street level, they're virtually invisible. They won't affect the curb appeal of your home — most people can't even tell they're there.
